Hinterland Adventures' premier Paintball fields are conveniently situated just 15 mins north from Hamilton CBD at Hutchinson Road, Horotiu off SH1. Our Paintball operation has been running in Hamilton for 6 years and offers you a professional and friendly service, high safety standards and quality gear, all situated over an awesome 10 acre block on the banks of the Waikato river. Our three outdoor fields are brimming with atmosphere, action & adventure making Paintball Hamilton THE place to experience this amazing team sport.
Play Paintball with Hinterland Adventures & let your team experience two or even three very different playing fields during one session. Two large gully & bush fields create scenario style play while the speedball field allows some intense close quarters excitement.
Using your powers of communication, team work & logical thinking you will battle your way to capturing the flag & taking the glory of a win for your team! A fun competition between two or more teams shooting it out for well earned points keeps things interesting in a lighthearted competitive way. The covered viewing platform is brilliant for ensuring spectators (and the occasional player!) watch the action & enjoy the atmosphere safely. Extend your event by utilising the BBQ area that overlooks both Paintball fields after or before your event (charge applies ), it's a great place to kick back & enjoy some food & drink while watching teams going nuts (for catering options & details please visit our catering page).
- A fern lined creek runs through the centre of the pine gully & provides
perfect cover for those commando moments! The many trees, ferns & barricades
provide areas to duck behind while still keeping this as an open field
that contains no blackberry bushes! This openness allows for movement of the game
which helps ensure that all players are involved throughout the session.
Speedball Field Description - Speed ball is the name of the game on field two. Over 60 obstacles are strategically placed across a flat field with a central fort for the taking. Tactically completely different from the pine gully, this is a fast moving highly strategic game that is great fun. There’s paint flying in all directions & often one member of a team will decide to ‘run for it’ - defintately not to be missed!
2nd Bush Field- Our third playing field challenges you with a swampy area, stream, heaps of ferns and punga's, lots of hiding areas and here you can experience scenario games. For example one of your 'men' has been captured by the other team...it's your mission to rescue the prisoner and return him to your camp. This field is rated a favourite by players. Select the $80 full Paintball package to experience this awesome zone.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Does it hurt when you get hit with a Paintball?
A: This is high on the list of questions asked by new players! Getting hit by a paintball generally stings or smarts, especially if shot inside of 6 meters and directly on your skin- often resulting in a small welt or bruise. The best comparison for what it feels like is snapping yourself with a rubber band. This is one reason why we have an age limit for Paintball of 11yrs+. Overalls help with providing another layer of protection and we have a limited number of chest and back protectors for those really concerned. Of course Paintball masks come as standard for all players. You are welcome to bring along your own extra protective padding, such as knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, chest protectors, and neck protectors if you wish.
If you're really nervous about Paintball, Outdoor Laser Tag is a great alternative.
Q: Can I bring my own gear and paintballs?
A: You're welcome to bring along your own marker, mask, gas cannister & hopper and in this case you will receive double the paintballs on whichever package you choose. You must however purchase your paintballs through Hinterland - we do not permit you to bring your own.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: Paintball is fine to carry on in the rain & plenty of groups do. However if the weather is forecast is looking stink and you're not keen to play in the rain just let us know and we can re-arrange your booking to another day. Showers are completely fine though.
Q: How quickly will I use 100 paintballs?
A: It all depends....some players can make 100 paintballs go along way, others use them all in 10mins. The average shoot rate at our site is 250 paintballs per person - so it is likely you'll use more than 100 paintballs during your event. The markers are semi - automatic, so every time you pull the trigger a paintball will come out the other end! To start with 100 paintballs will be loaded into your hopper, that way if you're on the core or supreme packages you've still got some left after you first run out, so you can judge how many you are using.
Q: Do you have overalls to fit all sizes?
A: Yes, we've got some very small overalls suitable for small 11yr olds and some very large overalls suitable for larger adults.
Q: Can I bring a friend who wants to just watch?
A: Yes, there's no charge for spectators. The facilitator of your group will advise you where your friend can watch from. Spectators need to ensure they listen carefully to the rules given by the facilitator and follow them, to keep themselves safe.
Q: Are there showers on site?
A: Unfortunately no, there is no running water or electricity to the site so we're unable to provide these facilities. We do have toilets and a large tank of water for washing your hands though.
Q: Can I bring my dog to the game?
A: No, we do not allow pets on site.
Q: Will there be other groups playing Paintball at the same time as us?
A: It's likely that other groups will be playing Paintball at the same time yes, however you'll have your own platform from which your group will be based. We rotate groups around our four fields, so unless we've combined you with another group (we reserve the right to do this if you have under 10 players), you'll be playing on your own field with your own players.
Q: Is it suitable for young children to watch Paintball?
A: Young children must be actively supervised at ALL times by a responsible and known adult while at our site. Paintballs are travelling very fast (250 feet per second) and it's important that care givers keep children safe at all times. It is NOT Hinterlands responsibility to supervise young children and/or non-players.
OUTDOOR LASER TAG
Outdoor Laser Tag
is the new realistic and painless way to play paintball without the impact
and mess! By adapting real paintball markers with the high-tech Eagle Eye
Laser Tag system, you get to experience this awesome activity on our outdoor
bush third field.
The sound created by firing the marker activates the infra red signal and the receiver keeps track of all the hits. A hit to the receiver from any angle will record a hit. Each time you score a hit on another player, the system will broadcast the information out to all players within range.
Outdoor Laser Tag is for everyone! It’s the perfect game for groups or individuals concerned about the perceived mess or pain of traditional paintball. It is targeted to young players, parties, teams, corporate outings or rentals. Minimum age is 7years old and you'll need 8 or more players to make it happen, find the packages on our pricing page. Call us today on 0800 22 66 54 to find out more.
